Philosophy for Children (P4C)

Lifeworlds can offer a range of P4C support to schools interested in, or already engaged with this exciting and critical pedagogical approach.

If you are new to P4C then an intial 'Taste of Philosophy' session delivered through a twilight session or as part of an INSET day may be the thing for you.

If you're already committed to introducing P4C into your setting then our 'P4C in the classroom' journey may be the right thing for you, where our SAPERE approved trainer will work alongside your staff to deliver a number of sessions over a school term. This 'in-action' approach helps you to realise the full potential of P4C and gradually trains your staff in their own setting.

An alternative is a 'P4C experience/demo day' where our trainer runs a series of sessions with your learners for staff to shadow, co-deliver and learn from. This includes a staff twilight to reflect on and share the learning.

A more formal option is to join a Level 1 P4C course and gain a SAPERE Level 1 certificate. This can be delivered to a school team or perhaps within a cluster of schools, with representatives from each of the schools. Level 2A and 2B options can allow you to continue your Philosophy journey further.

SAPERE is the UK body responsible for training and administering P4C practitioners in the UK. A SAPERE approved trainer has been through a recognised and peer-mediated process that includes observations and written assignments.

Rosie Wilson has completed her P4C training with SAPERE and is fully qualified to deliver SAPERE validated Level 1 P4C courses on behalf of SAPERE.

We can also work in partnership with other trainers to offer levels 2A and 2B for those who wish to take their learning further.

A national research project supported by the Education Endowment Foundation has shown that P4C can bring clear pupil benefits in terms of attainment, social skills and narrowing the education gap.
